3 Treasures I Discovered in India

It must have been back in June when Lisa (Get Happy Retreats) told me her upcoming retreat was in India. I fantasized about it for a whole 30 seconds before saying “I’m in!”

I didn’t know what to expect when I signed up for the retreat. All I knew I was ready to go back to magical India. It holds such a special place in my heart. A time that extreme decisions and changes took place for me. And most importantly the birthplace of WanderfulSoul.

The retreat has come and passed. There are many beautiful things I’m bringing home. From jewelry to tapestries and you can’t forget a few pairs of Ali Baba pants. But beyond these material objects, there are three hidden treasures that I discovered and am ready to bring home with me.

1. Let go and trust yourself

This is a biggie for me. You could say I’m a big risk taker and adventure seeker and I do listen to my intuition… most of the time. It all really starts on my yoga mat. I have a very strong practice but ask me to do a headstand in the middle of the class and my mind starts to freak out. I know I CAN do it. The idea of only myself being there to catch my fall scares me. At the end of the day, we are the only one’s that can catch our own fall. On and off the mat. This translates to my everyday life, when I am super excited about something and it feels so right, I scare myself out of the situation out of fear of failure. If you are suppose to live the life you are destined to live, the first step is trusting yourself and letting go of the attachment to the outcome.

2. Open up to the idea that there is another way of looking at things

Speaking of attachment to the outcome… This can start from a disagreement we have with a partner, friend or family member. We are unique individuals, which is so beautiful but it also means we won’t always see eye-to-eye on everything.

The concept of opening up to seeing things another way applies strongly with my business. I have a lot of drive and many goals. A lot of the time I get so caught up in the way “I think” something should be done to get where “I want to be”. I’ll get frustrated and disappointed when something doesn’t seem to be working the way I intended it to. There are many ways to get to that final destination and many times it won’t be the original plan. Opening up to the possibility that there may be another way of getting there might just bring you on an even more magical journey.

Let the universe blow your mind!

3. Next level bonds with amazing goddesses!

If you are anything like me, as you get older it seems as though friendship circles get smaller and smaller. I’m not necessarily talking about “acquaintances” but those sweet deep bonds you had with friends in University or high school. One major thing that makes me resist the inner work, other than what might drastically change in my life, is who I might need to leave behind.

It is pretty much guaranteed on any retreat you go on that you will form incredible bonds with the like-minded souls that are on the journey with you. It’s hard not to when you open up and have so many special moments together. I am so grateful for each and everyone of the women for creating such a safe space to be completely and authentically me. And luckily for me all these beautiful souls live within 20 min from my home!

The retreat may have come to an end but the new journey has just begun. Little seeds of wisdom have been planted and are ready to start sprouting.

With love from India,
